Icing on the cake

After shuffling around several classrooms and moving a kindergarten class upstairs, all in an effort to get the second grades on the first floor, the word on the grapevine is that the poor kindergarten teacher is going to have to move back downstairs. Apparently it's illegal (a fire code issue) to have kinders on the second floor. I know I mentioned this possibility to the principal when she first brought up this idea. The teacher's original room was quite large, in order to contain a play center, a block area, small group instruction, etc. When she moved upstairs, she had to annex another small classroom in order to fit all of her stuff. This meant someone else had to move out, etc. Now that she may have to move back down, the only option is the teachers' lounge plus an attached office, both tinier than what she has now, which in turn is smaller than what she used to have.

Nothing has officially been announced yet (how embarrassing to have to admit something like this, especially to a staff as skeptical as we are becoming), but most of us have heard anyway. Do you laugh, or do you cry? And where will I eat my lunch?

Ugh, just catching up on blogs and so sorry to hear things are that crazy at work. Perhaps she'll have a revelation and stop tormenting you all...
