Triathletes and High Tea

My mom and my sister just finished a triathlon yesterday. It's called the Aluminum Man, and they did the sprint tri -- a .5k swim, a 20k bike ride, and a 5k run. Mom won her age bracket, and W came in pretty high in hers, too, plus placed in the top 40 out of 126 racers. Check out this pic of my mom and her friend/co-worker with their medals! I think it's awesome, and I'm proud of them both. Just thinking about it makes me tired.....

My big event this weekend was not sports-related in the slightest. No, I just ate a lot! Three of my friends and I met for tea at the Brown Palace, a fancy old hotel downtown. They are famous for their Sunday tea. It was very British -- scones with cream, little cucumber and curried egg sandwiches with no crusts, and tiny pastries. And tea, of course! It was fun. There were lots of moms with little girls there in fancy dresses, and a birthday party of very polite eight-year-olds sitting behind us. Meeting for tea was part of our new plan to get together (and get dressed up) more often. N calls it "To the Nines", since we meet on the ninth of each month. I'm already looking forward to the next one.
